Pop" music then you have missed out
on a real treat! The tunes on this tape
are still played on juke boxes all over
the State! It has some really fine slow
dance numbers. My favorites are Mathilda
by Cookie & The Cupcakes, and Opelousas
                                        Soustan, by Rufus Jagneaux.

The Jazz piano music of the great Tuts Washington. Tuts was extremely popular and influential in New Orleans music during the 1930’s and 40’s. A great performer, he was a bit shy about recording and therefore we have very little of his music on tape. This CD was made in the early 1980’s for Rounder Records and shows his variety of Jazz, Blues, and popular tunes. A real wonderful tape from an old New Orleans Piano Professor. Check out Arkansas Blues and Frankie and Johnny as well as other great songs.
